The marriage record of Fredericka's son, Johannes to Catharina Berg states that Fredericka was 46 at the time of the wedding (27 July 1828). This would place her birth around 1782, which is in agreement with the found birth record. 
Marriage* 6 September 1799  Roth, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, The marriage of Peter Venter and Fredericka Leppla is found at the beginning of the third part of LDS Microfilm #0416069. This section of the film is the civil registry for marriages in the town of Roth for the years 1818 to 1841. However, at the beginning of the section a listing of the marriages recorded under the French Republican Calender (FRC) between the years 1798 and 1817 is given. Here the marriage of Peter Venter to Fredericka Leppla is shown recorded with the FRC date of 20 Fructidor VII. This translates to the Gregorian date of 6 Sep 1799., Principal=Johann Peter Venter

  1. Fredericka's middle name of Catharina was indicated in her death record. This is the only reference to her middle name. Additionally, a clear record of the exact spelling of Fredericka was never found, some variation of this spelling may be the correct one.

Note   There is some doubt that all of the children listed as children of Johann Carl Leppla and Susanna Elisabetha are indeed their children. Birth records for all children have been found. However, because the father was sometimes listed as "Johann Carl" and sometimes as "Carl", the mother was listed once as "Anna" instead of "Susanna"; and the births cover a range of 24 years, it seems that it is possible that there is more than one set of parents involved.

But there are many records for Carl Leppla and Susanna Elisabetha, so at this point it is assumed that Peter's mothers name is Susanna.

On her record of birth her Father is shown as Johann. This birth record also states the Johann is a "herzogl. Flossholzdiener" from Hohnbach.

In the 1880 census, Margaretha states that her father was born in Saxony.

Note*   Margaretha is the matriarch of the Weigold family in America, but was better known as Bertha. She was christened Margaretha on 21 July 1854 in Coburg, but used the name of Bertha, at least after her marriage. Her name is given as Bernardina on her marriage certificate recorded in New York on 15 May 1873.

THE WEIGOLD FAMILY RECORD indicates that Bertha was born in Thuringen, Coburg. In the 1880 census, she claims she was born in Saxony, as were both of her parents. Her marriage certificate states that she was born in Sax-Coburg. However, her birth record was recorded in Coburg, which was in the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha at that time. Today, it is in the German state of Bavaria.

In the 1900 census, she claims she immigrated to the U.S. in 1874, but that can't be right, since her marriage certificate was recorded in New York City in 1873. She actually arrived in New York on 18 Sep 1869 on the ship 'Weser' from Bremen, when she gave her age as 22 yrs.

Bertha is buried in the family plot in the South Cemetery, in Tolland Connecticut.

The reason for this is unknown, but it should be noted that the Godmother listed on her Baptism record was a Bernhardina Bauer. She probably used the name of Bernardina in remembrance of her Godmother. This is the only known instance where Margaretha used the name of Bernardina.
