Note*   Eva's tombstone in Tolland indicates that she lived 1809-1890,
however, there is much confusion over these dates. Harold
Weigold's THE WEIGOLD FAMILY RECORD, states that she died on 10
Dec 1891. In the 1880 census, she claims her age to be 72.
Since that was taken on 7 Jun 1880, Eva must have been born prior
to 7 Jun 1808.

Tolland's record of Eva's death states that she died on the 10th.
of Dec 1891, so that date seems relatively certain. But, it also
states that she died at the age of 84 yrs., 2 mos., and eighteen
days, which would put her birthday on 22 Sep 1807.

Fortunately, her birth record has been found in Untersiemau and
it states that she was born on 21 Sep 1809. This date is
corroborated by her Marriage record of 15 Feb 1843 (also in
Untersiemau).

Her birth record states that her father was a master linen
weaver.

Harold Weigold reports that Eva spent six weeks on a sailing ship
when coming to America, but does not give a date. The assumption
was that she followed her children, however, she was already
living with them, in Brooklyn, at the time of the 1880 census.

Her immigration record has since been found and it seens that Eva
arrived in New York with her son Carl (Charles) on 28 Nov 1870. She
stated her age as 62 (Karl's as 20) and that they were both from
'North Germany'. His occupation was given as 'Blacksmith'. The
ship was the 'Columbus' and sailed from Bremen/Bremerhaven.

Immigration* 28 November 1870  New York City, New York, Eva arrived in New York on 28 Nov 1870, on the ship Columbus which sailed from Bremerhaven, Germany. She made the trip with her son Carl.

This agrees nicely wiith the Coburg Bürgerliste of 1860, which is noted with the fact that Eva was given a pass to emigrate to America on 13 Oct 1870.

Note*   Several records in Gochsheim indicate that Anna Margaretha was born in Westheim (i.e. the birth record of Georg Carl Träg [7 Jun 1818] and her own death record [8 Mar 1844]). At first, this seemed to be a false lead since no record of her nor her family could be found in Westheim (bei Hussfurt), where the trail of the Trägs first started. Howerver, further research discovered the record of her birth in Westheim (bei Kitzingen) which is located just south of Würtzburg. The church is actually located in the village of Lindelbach. The records there show that Anna Margareta was born on 15 Feb 1872 and Baptised on the 17th. They show her father as Johann Kaspar Schott and her mother as Anna Barbara Dauch. This record also indicates that she died in 1844.

According to information sent from Gochsheim, records there indicate that Anna Margareta died on 8 Mar 1844 at the age of 62 yr., 23 days. She was a widow at the time of her death, which indicates that Johann Kaspar died before 8 Mar 1844.
