Eva Barbara Schmidt died on 10 December 1891 at Tolland, Tolland Co., Connecticut, at age 82; Death was record in the Tolland Town Vital records; Page 501; 1891, 10 December; Name: Eva Liebermann, age: 84 yrs., 2 mos., 18 days. She was buried after 10 December 1891 at South Cemetery, Tolland, Tolland Co., Connecticut.
     Eva Barbara Schmidt's LDS Familysearch Family Tree ID is: KCLK-QDR. Eva's tombstone in Tolland indicates that she lived 1809-1890, however, there is much confusion over these dates. Harold Weigold's THE WEIGOLD FAMILY RECORD, states that she died on 10 Dec 1891. In the 1880 census, she claims her age to be 72. Since that was taken on 7 Jun 1880, Eva must have been born prior to 7 Jun 1808.

Tolland's record of Eva's death states that she died on the 10th. of Dec 1891, so that date seems relatively certain. But, it also states that she died at the age of 84 yrs., 2 mos., and eighteen days, which would put her birthday on 22 Sep 1807.

Fortunately, her birth record has been found in Untersiemau and it states that she was born on 21 Sep 1809. This date is corroborated by her Marriage record of 15 Feb 1843 (also in Untersiemau).

Her birth record states that her father was a master linen weaver.

Harold Weigold reports that Eva spent six weeks on a sailing ship when coming to America, but does not give a date. The assumption was that she followed her children, however, she was already living with them, in Brooklyn, at the time of the 1880 census.

Her immigration record has since been found and it seens that Eva arrived in New York with her son Carl (Charles) on 28 Nov 1870. She stated her age as 62 (Karl's as 20) and that they were both from 'North Germany'. His occupation was given as 'Blacksmith'. The ship was the 'Columbus' and sailed from Bremen/Bremerhaven. She immigrated on 28 November 1870 to New York City, New York; Eva arrived in New York on 28 Nov 1870, on the ship Columbus which sailed from Bremerhaven, Germany. She made the trip with her son Carl.

This agrees nicely wiith the Coburg Bürgerliste of 1860, which is noted with the fact that Eva was given a pass to emigrate to America on 13 Oct 1870. She lived on 14 November 1888 at Tolland, Tolland Co., Connecticut; Moved from Brooklyn, N.Y. to Tolland, Connecticut.

     Johann David Schmidt married Anna Cacilia Oster, daughter of Nickol Oster and Anna Catharina Martin, on 21 July 1675 at Odenbach, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.

     Johann Heinrich Schmidt married Elisabetha Margaretha Gutgesell, daughter of Johann Heinrich Gutgesell and Barbara Gräßer, on 3 February 1780 at Untersiemau, Bavaria, Germany; Marriage was recorded in the Evang.-Luth.      Johann Michael Schmidt's LDS Familysearch Family Tree ID is: K4PD-HXQ. Johann Michael's death record in Untersiemau indicates that he was born in Stöppach (a nearby town). The church books from Stöppach are now kept at the church in Scherneck. The minister from Scherneck has verified that Johann Michael was born there on 23 Nov. 1782.
